David Dyjack, Dr. PH, CIH | Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer, ¾«¶«´«Ã½

David T. Dyjack, Dr.PH, CIH is Chief Executive Officer of the almost 7000-member ¾«¶«´«Ã½ (NEHA), a position he has held since May 2015. Under his leadership NEHA has increased its membership by 55% and grown staff from 28 to almost 60 full-time employees in Denver, Washington D.C. and other states. Dr. Dyjack is the Principal Investigator on three environmental health workforce capacity building grants, one from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and two from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. These awards represent almost $60 million intended to increase the capacity of the environmental health profession in federal, state, territorial, local and tribal environmental health programs. Throughout his 35-year public health career Dyjack has been dean of an accredited school of public health, health director for an international non-governmental organization, and a consultant to private sector organizations such as Exxon, Saudi Aramco, and Ford Motor Company. David earned a doctorate in public health from the University of Michigan, an MSPH from the University of Utah, and is a board-certified industrial hygienist (CIH).

Effective Messaging: For the environmental and public health professional

Within environmental and public health, it is critical to convey regulations and best practices to the public in a manner that persuades them to comply. This webinar focuses on how to establish professional relationships with external partners and gain trust so that public health is protected through individual action.

¾«¶«´«Ã½ and public health cannot be maintained without the buy-in of non-public health professionals. Communicating goals and regulations that support public health requires persuasion, relationship building, and establishing trust.

Lisa VanRaemdonck, MSW, MPH | Executive Director of the School of Public Affairs, University of Colorado, Denver

Lisa VanRaemdonck (she/her) serves as the Executive Director of Outreach, Partnerships and Professional Learning at the University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs and is an instructor at the Colorado School of Public Health. She is also Director of the Rocky Mountain Leadership Program. Her work is dedicated to supporting the intersection of the School of Public Affairs and public service professionals through group facilitation, strategic partnerships, leadership development & training, peer networking and capacity building. Lisa approaches her work with a focus on collaboration, systems thinking, building connections, equity and social justice. Prior to her current, Lisa served as Executive Director of the Colorado Association of Local Public Health Officials and co-directed the Colorado Public Health Practice-Based Research Network. She came to public service after a brief, private sector career in public relations and business-to-business marketing communications. Lisa earned a Master of Public Health and a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a special focus in journalism, from Michigan State University.

Beth Roome, MA, ACC | Founder, Switchback Institute

Beth Roome founded Switchback Institute to address the challenges of people in high impact careers. She is a coach, certified through the International Coaching Federation and has 30 years’ experience in strategic planning, leadership development and workforce resilience spanning government, private and faith-based communities. She spent 13 years in the Colorado Departments of Human Services, Public Health and Environment, and Public Safety (CDPS) working in disaster response. She served as Department Manager for Organizational Development, State Training Officer, Public Information Officer and Behavioral Health Specialist.

Beth created the CDPS Leadership Strategies Institute and co-led the development of a statewide system for standardized behavioral health response during disasters; she served as the state’s behavioral health lead during large-scale catastrophic incidents. Beth’s resilience material has been delivered in various formats to over 100 agencies and conferences nationally and internationally.
